This bill would ban transgender people from using bathrooms, locker rooms, and dormitories in public schools and universities unless they conform with their sex assigned at birth. For example, trans men would be forced to use women’s dormitories, and trans girls would be forced to use boys’ bathrooms.

School districts, colleges, and universities would lose 25 percent of their state funding if they allow transgender people to use facilities matching their gender.

We oppose this bill because: Transgender students deserve the same chance to learn and thrive as their classmates. Many already face harassment, bullying, and rejection. We should be doing everything we can as a state to protect these children, not join in on the attacks.
