Demetria joined the ACLU of South Carolina in October 2024. She is a passionate advocate for queer reproductive justice, a storyteller, and an artist. Demetria envisions a future where everyone can live safely and thrive. Her work takes a holistic approach to justice, drawing on her background in healing and community care to support marginalized voices.
With extensive experience in storytelling, Demetria has mobilized communities around reproductive freedom, civil rights, and social justice. She has worked across communications and advocacy roles, developing compelling narratives that amplify underrepresented perspectives. Demetria also serves on a steering committee for Doula Medicaid reimbursements, advancing access to essential care in South Carolina.
Demetria holds a B.A. in Journalism from S.C. State University and an M.A. in Digital Storytelling from DePaul University. When she’s not at work, Demetria curates wellness spaces for LGBTQIA+ communities and envisions a world grounded in care.
