Matthew joined the ACLU of South Carolina as LGBTQ Advocacy Strategist in the Spring of 2023.
He is from Cheraw, South Carolina and earned a BA in History and Religious Studies from the University of South Carolina. After graduating college Matt began an 18 year career in Government Insurance Programs, spending the last 15 with the SC Insurance Reserve Fund interacting with public and private stake holders around the state. In addition to his day job Matt has spent years helping organize the LGBTQ+ community in the midlands of South Carolina through his work and service at the Harriet Hancock LGBT Center Foundation where he is currently Board President.
When not advocating or volunteering his time with his community Matt can be found enjoying time with friends, his family in Cheraw and especially with his corgi Dolly and yellow dog George.
