The South Carolina Legislature consists of two bodies: the Senate and the House of Representatives. There are 46 Senators and 124 Representatives.
The Legislature begins their regular session annually in Columbia on the second Tuesday in January and must adjourn no later than the second Thursday in May unless an extension is granted by a two-thirds vote of both bodies. In 2020, the legislative session begins on January 14.
