This bill would enable faith-based organizations to discriminate against same-sex couples and other LGBTQ people. Adoption and foster care services would be allowed to exclude members of sexual and gender minority groups without any interference from the state of South Carolina.
We oppose this bill because: The 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution guarantees equal protection under the law. Cynical appeals to religion do not give people or agencies the right to discriminate.
